Susan Boyle won second place during the Britain’s Got Talent Finals

The singing sensation from Scotland, Susan Boyle landed second place during the Britain’s Got Talent Show. Though she received notable praised from the judges especially from Piers Morgan but apparently this wasn’t enough to win the Finals. A group of ten young street dancers called Diversity beat her first place while Saxophonist Julian Smith came in third place. Susan Boyle, who had a rough week after her performance during the Semi-Finals sang “I Dreamed A Dream” from the musical “Les Miserables” which initially made her an Internet sensation after receiving 100 million hits in YouTube.

Was it fair to place Susan Boyle second place?  You decide. What do you think about Susan Boyle’s performance compared to the dance group Diversity? I think she needs to focus more on her looks and check out cosmetology. Stream through the performances of Susan Boyle and the group Diversity during the Britain’s Got Talent show!

Maid from Hell – A mother’s dilemma!

Just 2 weeks ago a disturbing video about a maid physically hurting a little girl was posted in YouTube. Though, not a lot of people have seen the video but I’m posting it on my blog to serve as a warning for mom’s like me not to be too generous in trusting house helpers. The video is just 47 seconds long but it exhibits the maid’s psychotic and cruel behavior.

After seeing the video I can’t help but feel worrid, angry and hateful. I’m worrid since me and my hubby sometimes work the same shifts and I’m quite skeptical now if it’s alright for me to leave my little boy with our current maid. I hope you get to watch this video and post it on your blogs as well to warn others.

Was AT&T responsible for Kris Allen’s victory?

American Idol finalists, Adam Lambert & Kris Allen

Latest talk on American idol winner, Kris Allen, was that his winning the title was intentional. According to New York Times, evidence showed AT&T as the reason behind Kris Allen’s victory. The night of the American Idol Finals, the mobile company was said to have provided phones to his fans to cast huge votes. These mobile phones have ‘power text’ features which could send a great deal of 10 text messages or more at one time. During the event, the AT&T representatives allegedly provided free service at two parties in Arkansas.

After this news went out about AT&Ts involvement, Fox Broadcasting issued a statement insisting that there were no discrepancies involved with the result during the American Idol finals and that it was accurate, fair and verified. They further claimed that Kris Allen was indeed the winner.

I don’t think that Fox would have admitted to any descrepancies with their voting system since this would only cast doubts to American Idol fans and since Kris Allen’s winning had already been rolled out to the public then it would have been difficult to retract his title.

Susan Boyle’s shocking outburst during the Britain’s Got Talent Semi-Finals

Susan Boyles shocking outburst during the Britains Got Talent Semi-Finals

Susan Boyle's shocking outburst during the Britain's Got Talent Semi-Finals

Yesterday night, Susan Boyle, the Britain’s Got Talent singing sensation reportedly swore at a journalist in front of guests in the lobby of the Wembley Plaza Hotel. A police who was stationed at the hotel that night had to intervene since Susan Boyle’s outburst was creating attention to other guests. It was reported that she yelled and I quote “How f**king dare you! You can’t f**king talk to me like that.” Boyle’s spokeswoman insisted that the incident wasn’t Susan’s fault and that the reporter provoked her. Later that night, Boyle was seen crying outside the hotel.

Lately, Susan has received several criticisms because of her not-so great performance during the Semi Finals for the Britain’s Got Talent show. Popular English pop singer, Lily Allen, posted on her Twitter account that Susan Boyle was overrated while Louis Walsh, the X Factor Judge and Westlife manager said she wasn’t a great singer. However, Piers Morgan, the Britain’s Got Talent judge who Susan admitted she’s got a crush on, was quick to defend her. He reportedly said during an interview that Boyle had been crying this week since she’s been struggling with her sudden fame. In an interview with radio station LBC 97.3, he also said Boyle was and I quote “an incredibly sweet, nice, gentle person who has been propelled through this show.”

Other rumour circulating was that Boyle also got into a jealous foul-mouthed tantrum during the Britain’s Got Talent semi-final night. It was reported that she got annoyed after Piers Morgan praised one of her counterparts, the young, Shaheen Jafargholi. After Morgan told Jafargholi that his performance was ‘the best singing performance we have heard in the semi-finals so far”, Boyle reportedly made a two-fingered gesture at the TV and even shouted profanity. About 150 guests were said to have witnessed her shocking outburst which stunned most of them a great deal.

How to Baby Proof our Homes

How to Baby Proof our Homes

How to Baby Proof our Homes

As I quote from one of the articles in webmd.com, we cannot really create a environment that’s 100% safe for our kids. There’s no substitute for somebody watching your child — that’s the best way to prevent an injury in babyhood and childhood. Each year, more than 4.5 million children are injured in the home, according to the National SAFE KIDS Campaign. And parents can prevent many common serious childhood injuries by knowing where the dangers lie and how to protect children from them.

Here are a few ways which we could do to keep our homes baby proof. :)

Bathroom

  • Start by turning down the water temperature on your water heater, advises Cronan. “When you put your baby in the bath tub, it’s easiest to avoid any burning problem by keeping [it] at 110°.”
  • Consider purchasing and installing toilet lid locks, she says. “Babies are fascinated by water,” Cronan says.

Doors

  • Put decals on sliding-glass doors so your child won’t run into them.
  • Use doorknob covers on doors that you don’t want your child to open.

Windows

  • Install window guards or adjust windows so they cannot open more than six inches.
  • Tie up the cords to blinds so that a child doesn’t get tangled up in them.
  • Do not place a crib, playpen, highchair, or bed anywhere near blind cords.
  • Install safety glass in low windows and French doors so they won’t shatter if a child falls into them.
  • Don’t place furniture or anything that can be climbed on near a window.

Electricity

  • Cover all unused electrical outlets with safety plugs that snap into outlets. “As soon as toddlers start crawling, they will try to put their fingers or a bobby pin in exposed outlets and can get a serious burn,” Cronan says.
  • Check for exposed outlets behind furniture that you may have overlooked.

Fireplace

  • “Purchase a fireplace hearth cover because once kids learn to walk or crawl, they run a risk of falling into a fireplace,” Cronan says. Ready-made or even homemade cushiony devices that go around the hearth also can keep them out of harm’s way.

Stairways

  • Install gates once they start crawling. “Put them at the bottom of stairways to prevent them from getting up the stairs. And if you are worried about them getting out of a bedroom, put a gate on that doorway,” Cronan says.
  • “Don’t put a gate at the top of the steps, because some babies can climb up a gate and fall from an even higher height,” she says.
  • Place the safety gate bar latch on the side away from your child’s reach.
  • Never leave anything on the stairs that you can trip on while carrying your baby.

Furniture and Accessories

  • Put away any unstable or rickety furniture your baby could pull over.
  • Fasten high bookcases or other tall pieces of furniture to the wall so your child can’t pull them down.
  • Keep all drawers closed completely so your baby can’t shut fingers in them or climb on them.
  • Keep all medications and cleaning products stored in a locked cabinet. “You especially want to lock [low cabinets] that contain household products that are dangerous because once your child starts crawling, he or she can get out cleaning fluids and drink them,” Cronan says.

Appliances

  • Turn the handles of pots and pans toward the back of the stove or counter.
  • Use the back burners for cooking whenever possible.
  • Don’t let your baby play at your feet while you are cooking.
  • Never leave a boiling pot or sizzling skillet unattended on the stove.
  • Teach your child that the oven is “hot” and not to touch it.
  • Keep plug-in appliances, such as toasters and can openers, put away where your child can’t reach them.
