Badoo: Another Social Networking Website

What is Badoo? The first time I’ve heard about it was when a friend of mine kept on bugging to create a profile or account with it. So I figured, it was probably another social networking website. I got curious and as usual, I googled it on the Net. What I found out about this site was that it’s a “dynamic multi-lingual socializing site that allows its users to meet new people and friends in and around their local area.” I’ve actually copied its definition from its Homepage. It seems that Badoo has been gaining a lot of attention as well as registered users all over the Globe. According to Wikipedia, it claims that it now has about 22 million registered users. Though, it’s not as popular as Facebook but it’s still one of the top 100 visited websites based on Alexa. For me that’s still a big deal. Its drawbacks, though, is that Badoo makes use of bulk e-mail, or so-called spam to solicit its new members. Some emails are deceitfully written as if it’s from a friend who wishes you to join. It also uses information about a member’s contacts to send messages to non-members on the site purporting to be that member, when in fact it was written by the badoo spambot. This may constitute a form of impersonation.

Anyways, I would still like to sign-up to this site but I definitely would be extra careful inputting personal and confidential information just to be sure. There’s still an advantage in signing-up for social networking websites since it helps us meet new people and express ourselves easily. As for me, I’m joining in to lure more people to this site.hehehe. Badoo can be a great help for us to attract more readers to this site.
