How to choose the right Car Insurance?

If you have a car, would you consider spending more bucks on car insurance? Or would you rather save your money and invest it somewhere else? Some people think that car insurance is just another scam that’s totally a waste of your hard earned money. However, what happens if your car is wrecked or someone hits your car from behind? This is were car insurance comes it. It’s all a matter of choosing the right company to invest in and get a worthy car insurance plan.

I’ve been searching online for some tips on how to search for the perfect car insurance company and here’s what I found out:

1. Check out your state department’s insurance website.

Now, you may ask why there’s a need for this and well, your state’s insurance website contains what we call “consumer complaint ratios” of all insurance companies in the state. This is important since it tells you how many complaints an insurance company received ever 1, 000 claims filed.  This is definitely smart buying. Car insurance experts recommend consumers check companies complaint ratios and whichever has the lowest complaint ratios should suit your needs. Of course, consumers also have to consider each companies’ premium quotes before making a decision.

2. Ask which insurers body shops recommend.

Asking questions and probing is always a good thing that’s why if you know a body shop you’ve used before go ahead and ask for advice which insurers they like to deal with. Most of the time these guys have  more experience in dealing with car insurance companies. By the way, asking questions doesn’t just end with body shops. If you have friends or anyone who had good or bad experiences when they needed to make  a claim at least you get an idea which companies are worth dealing with.

3. Find out insurer’s financial ratings.

Another thing to consider with car insurance companies is there ability to carry out a claim. You can check out A.M Best and Standard & Poor websites for insurers’ financial ratings. Usually this study is worth while if you’re looking at some smaller and unfamiliar car insurance firms.

4. Check our customer satisfaction surveys.

The best place to research on consumer satisfaction with car insurers would be with J.D. Power and Associates which is  a firm that conducts surveys on customer satisfaction research on new-car quality and long-term dependability.

5. Work with a car insurance agent or get a quote online.

Most of the time getting a quote online requires you to work with an agent but this is not always a bad thing since they do the research for you if they know their job well.
