Steve Tyler of Aerosmith
According to a report by the Associated Press “Halfway through the performance, Tyler fell onto a couple of fans in the middle of what was a record crowd, Sanborn said. Security rushed to help him and the crowd cheered when Tyler got back up.” Looks like he wouldn’t need cosmetology colleges after the accident.
The spokesman for the Buffalo Chip Campground who hosted the outdoor concert stated “He was good natured about it,” Mike Sanborn said. “He was in good spirits when he got in the helicopter. He was talking and joking with the physician. It was an unfortunate end to an extraordinary evening,” he said.
The Aerosmith lead singer suffered minor head and neck injuries and a shoulder injury. The band was already halfway through the performance when Tyler fell onto a couple of fans. Security rushed to help him while the crowd cheered when he got back up. It was around 12:15 a.m. when Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry informed the audience that Tyler was being taken to the hospital and that the show would have to end. He was rushed to the Rapid City Regional Hospital which was the only major hospital in the region.
Though fans were disappointed he concert was cut short but hoped Tyler wasn’t seriously hurt.
