CW just called off the production of Ashton Kutcher’s series, “The Beautiful Life” starring Mischa Barton, after only two episodes. It was reported that the show’s debut lost 60% of audience of its lead-in, “America’s Next Top Model,” while the second episode only attracted 1 million viewers (source: Amy & Nancy Harrington, GetBack.com). On the other hand, “The Vampire Diaries,” which premeired last Sept. 10, is gaining popularity and building its audience.

Vampires are just HOT HOT HOT nowadays! 
A new show will premiere tomorrow, Sept. 10, 2009 in the CW and CTV entitled the Vampire Diaries. The Vampire Diaries is a young adult horror series of novels written by L.J. Smith, a NYT Bestselling author of the Night World series. The show centers around Elena Gilbert, a high school girl torn between two vampire brothers. I wonder how this show would compare to Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight Saga or Charlaine Harris The Southern Vampire Mysteries, basis for Alan Ball’s True Blood.
